Benjamin Ruppert began singing at age 3, playing piano by ear at age 4, and composing at age 5 shortly after he started formal piano lessons. Studying classical piano throughout his childhood and continuing to sing, he competed classically, routinely placing in the top 5 high school-aged classical tenor vocalists and top 10 high school-aged classical pianists in the state of Oregon at the time. At 17, Ruppert decided to abandon his pursuits of classical music in favor of working on crafting his skills in pop songwriting, and at 19, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to explore opportunities.

In his early 20’s, Ruppert began studying electronic music at the City College of San Francisco, where he began to develop his unique blend of piano-driven pop with classically-inspired elements, and a strong appreciation for electronica. He also studied audio recording and production, and over the next few years, he built a home studio in order to further develop his songwriting, electronic composition, and recording skills. At age 24, singing his songs solo at the piano, Ruppert won Best Original Material at the San Francisco Cabaret Showcase Showdown, and went on to tie for runner-up at the city-wide competition.

Working from his studio, Ruppert is currently writing and recording songs that examine the intersection of addiction and mental health while keeping an ear pointed toward more broadly resonating themes such as identity, heartbreak, and hope.
